Bvlgari Omnia Coral Eau de Toilette 40ml

Bvlgari Omnia Coral Eau de Toilette was launched in 2012, created by Alberto Morillas of Firmenich — one of the most prolific and commercially significant perfumers of the past four decades. Morillas returning from his co-creation of CK One (1994, with Cavallier Belletrud); his wider portfolio includes Acqua di Giò pour Homme (1996, the defining aquatic masculine of the late 20th century and the most commercially successful masculine in the Armani range), Marc Jacobs Daisy (2007, encountered in this session in the EDT and Eau So Fresh variants), and Flowerbomb (2005, Viktor&Rolf, co-created with Carlos Benaim, one of the most commercially successful feminine launches of the 2000s). His capacity to create across the full spectrum — from the defining masculine aquatic to the quintessential fruity-floral feminine to Omnia Coral’s tropical brightness — makes him the most range-versatile perfumer in the session. Omnia Coral belongs to the Bvlgari Omnia colour collection — a series of fragrances each associated with a specific colour and its emotional resonances, the coral of this edition referencing the vivid, sun-warmed hues of Mediterranean red coral. Bvlgari — the Italian luxury house founded in Rome in 1884 by the Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris, whose name was Italianised to Bulgari (the classical Bvlgari spelling using the Latin V for U) — established its fragrance programme in the 1990s as an extension of its jewellery aesthetic: precise, gemstone-referencing, colour-associated, and architecturally considered. The opening of Bergamot and Goji Berries is the most exotically fruited top-note pairing in the Bvlgari Omnia feminine range — and the first appearance in the session of Goji Berry as a named fragrance material. Goji Berries — Lycium barbarum and related species, the wolfberry fruit, native to China and cultivated across Asia — have a sweet, slightly tart, faintly floral-fruity character with notes simultaneously recalling cranberry, pomegranate and a subtle earthiness; their use in perfumery is primarily as a fruity-berry accord contributing an exotic, slightly unusual berry quality that is distinctly different from the sharp, sulphurous-edged darkness of Blackcurrant or the sweetness of standard red berry accords. Alongside Bergamot’s familiar bright-citrus quality, the Goji Berry opening gives Omnia Coral an immediately distinctive tropical-exotic brightness. The heart of Hibiscus, Water Lily and Pomegranate is the most tropically composed and botanically specific floral-fruity heart in the feminine collection. Hibiscus — Hibiscus rosa-sinensis and related species, first named appearance in the session — has a distinctly tart, fruity-floral olfactory character (the dried calyces of Hibiscus sabdariffa produce the characteristic cranberry-tart quality of hibiscus tea); in perfumery it contributes simultaneously a floral and fruity-tart quality with a slight rosehip-adjacent warmth that bridges the fruity top and the floral register in a way no purely floral or purely fruity material achieves alone. Water Lily — Nymphaea and related genera, first named appearance in the session — an aquatic floral with a clean, slightly watery, delicately soft floral quality; its combination with Hibiscus and Pomegranate creates a heart that references tropical flowers, watery freshness and juicy fruit simultaneously, giving Omnia Coral its characteristic luminous, sun-on-water quality. The base of Virginia Cedar and Musk is the lightest and most deliberately transparent base in the Omnia range. Virginia Cedar — Juniperus virginiana, technically a Juniper species from the cypress family (Cupressaceae) rather than a true Cedar (Cedrus, Pinaceae), native to eastern North America — has a drier, more pencil-shaving-like quality than the warmer, creamier Atlas Cedar or the clean structural Cedarwood of masculine compositions; its lightness is deliberate here, chosen to ground the tropical floral-fruity character without adding unnecessary weight or warmth. Musk the skin-close longevity material completing the drydown with a clean, soft finish.

How to Wear

Apply to pulse points — wrists, neck, décolletage. Two sprays; Omnia Coral has light to moderate projection with a clean, fruity-floral development. The Bergamot and Goji Berry opening is immediately bright and distinctive; the Hibiscus, Water Lily and Pomegranate heart arrives within ten minutes as the composition’s most vivid and tropical phase. The Virginia Cedar and Musk base lasts four to six hours with a soft, clean trail.
