Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men Eau de Toilette was launched in 2008, created by Olivier Polge of IFF — second appearance in the session, having first been referenced as co-creator of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb (2005). Polge left IFF in 2013 to become the in-house perfumer at Chanel, succeeding Jacques Polge (his father) in the role — one of the most significant appointments in the history of the haute perfumery industry, and a direct continuation of the Polge family’s association with Chanel (Jacques Polge had held the position since 1978). The One For Men is among Polge’s most commercially significant pre-Chanel commissions: a composition that established the warm aromatic oriental masculine as D&G’s primary fragrance identity, launched two years after the feminine The One (2006) to create the house’s first true masculine-feminine fragrance pair. Dolce & Gabbana — the Italian fashion house founded in Milan in 1985 by Domenico Dolce (born in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily) and Stefano Gabbana (born in Milan), whose aesthetic combines Sicilian Mediterranean sensuality with Milanese precision and a maximally theatrical visual identity — built a fragrance programme that became one of the most commercially significant in Italian fashion fragrance, beginning with the original D&G pour Femme (1992) and Light Blue (2001) and continuing through The One franchise (2006/2008) and the K and Q ranges. The opening of Grapefruit, Coriander and Basil is the most herbal and most compositionally diverse top in the D&G masculine range — and the only top in the session to combine a citrus (Grapefruit), a spice-herb (Coriander) and a culinary herb (Basil) in a single tier. Grapefruit returning in its familiar bright, slightly bitter top-note role. The heart of Cardamom, Ginger and Orange Blossom is the most unusual and most compositionally courageous heart in the D&G masculine range — pairing two of the most assertively spiced materials in the session (Cardamom and Ginger, appearing together for the first time) with Orange Blossom in its most unexpected masculine context. Cardamom and Ginger returning from their multiple masculine appearances; together they create the most intensely and multiply spiced masculine heart in the session, a spiced warmth that is simultaneously assertive and precisely controlled. How to Wear

Apply to pulse points — wrists, neck, chest. Two to three sprays; The One For Men EDT has moderate to strong projection with excellent longevity from the Tobacco, Cedarwood and Amber base. The Grapefruit, Coriander and Basil opening is immediately herbal-fresh and Mediterranean in character; the Cardamom, Ginger and Orange Blossom heart arrives within fifteen minutes as the composition’s most spiced and most warmly distinctive phase.
