The original Spicebomb was a grenade — sharp, bright, explosive spice with a fresh edge that made it one of the most recognisable men’s fragrances of its generation. Spicebomb Extreme, launched in 2015 by Carlos Benaim and Jean-Christophe Hérault, takes the same grenade bottle and fills it with something considerably darker. The grapefruit and pimento top notes give it a fleeting freshness before the spice takes over — and it takes over quickly. Black pepper leads the charge, but it’s the heart where Extreme earns its name: Cumin and Saffron alongside Lavender give it a depth and warmth that the original never went near.
The base is unambiguously rich. Tobacco, Vanilla, Bourbon and Amber Wood build into a drydown that’s smoky, resinous and full — the kind of base that lingers on fabric long after the skin has moved on. This isn’t a fragrance for warm weather or casual daytime wear; it’s built for cold evenings and close proximity, and it performs best in exactly those conditions. Longevity runs to six to eight hours with a sillage that projects confidently without becoming oppressive. For anyone who knows and loves the original Spicebomb but wishes it had more depth and staying power, Extreme is the answer. For anyone new to the range, it’s a better starting point if your instinct runs towards heavier, more intense orientals.
How to Apply
Apply to pulse points — neck, wrists, chest. Given the intensity of the base, 2 sprays is enough for most occasions. The tobacco and bourbon notes deepen significantly in cold air — this is a fragrance that genuinely improves as autumn sets in.
