Burberry Touch Eau de Parfum

Burberry Touch has been in the house’s fragrance portfolio since 2000 — one of the longest-running and most consistently restocked Burberry women’s fragrances, and for good reason. Where the rest of the Burberry feminine range has grown increasingly ambitious in recent years — Goddess EDP with its warm vanilla and lavender, Her Elixir with its darker, more intense fruity character — Touch remains the lightest, freshest and most classically British proposition in the collection. The pale, elegantly shaped bottle with its distinctive wooden cap is as recognisable as any in the Burberry range and considerably more understated than the gilded opulence of some of its stablemates. Touch is a fragrance for women who want a refined, easy-to-wear British floral without complexity or drama.

The opening is one of the most immediately appealing in the Burberry portfolio: Blackcurrant, Cassis and Cranberry with Pink Peppercorns. Cassis — the French name for blackcurrant liquéur — has a darker, richer and more complex character than the raw fruit alone, adding a slightly vinous depth to the berry brightness; Cranberry brings a tart, clean sharpness; and Pink Peppercorns add a gentle, rosy warmth that prevents the opening from reading as purely sweet. It is a British fruit basket opening — the kind of fruits that grow in British cottage gardens and hedgerows — and it is entirely appropriate for the house that gave us the trench coat and the tartan check. The heart of Rose, Lily of the Valley and Jasmine is a classic English floral trio — Rose assertive and clear, Lily of the Valley adding clean freshness as it did in D&G The One, Jasmine providing warmth and depth without heaviness. Peach, Raspberry and Musk in the base soften and sweeten the composition into its gentle, warm drydown. Alongside the masculine Burberry Hero EDP — the darkest and most brooding fragrance written across both sessions — Touch is as far as the house goes in the opposite direction: light, fresh, and completely undemanding.

How to Apply

Apply to pulse points — wrists, neck, décolletage. The cassis and cranberry opening settles quickly into the rose and jasmine heart — the peach and musk base lasts five to six hours on skin with a soft, clean trail. Ideal for layering over a lightly scented body lotion.
