The opening of Mandarin Juice and Velvet Peach is one of the most immediately appealing and accessible in the Jimmy Choo range — Mandarin Juice rather than the standard orange or bergamot, with a brighter and more specifically juicy quality; Velvet Peach adding the warm, soft-skinned fruitiness that has appeared across the session in D&G The One and Lanvin Marry Me, but here more prominent and more central to the composition’s character. The heart is anchored by Red Spider Lily — the star note the brand calls out and the note that gives I Want Choo its distinctiveness. Red Spider Lily (Lycoris radiata) is a Japanese and East Asian flower with a delicate, slightly exotic, softly sweet floral character quite unlike the more familiar rose, jasmine or gardenia — luminous and quietly unusual, it bridges the juicy peach opening to the warm base without introducing any heaviness. Jasmine Sambac — the intensely floral variety that appeared in Elie Saab Le Parfum Bridal and Lanvin Marry Me — adds warmth and depth to the heart without overwhelming the Red Spider Lily. The base of Vanilla, Benzoin and Resinoid is softer and more rounded than the full Benzoin-Caramel intensity of Prada Candy — here Benzoin is supporting rather than starring, adding a warm, balsamic depth that gives I Want Choo its lasting power and gentle sweetness without tipping into gourmand excess.
