Calvin Klein Eternity Eau de Parfum

Calvin Klein Eternity was launched in 1988 — three years before CK Escape and the same year as Boucheron EDT, placing it firmly in the late 1980s era of classically constructed, complex feminine fragrances. It is the second oldest Calvin Klein feminine in the collection after Obsession, and one of the most consistently in-demand — now in its fourth decade of continuous production. The name Eternity was chosen deliberately: the fragrance was positioned as a romantic, optimistic, family-oriented scent, in direct contrast to the darker, more provocative identity of Obsession. Where Escape is generous and fruit-forward, Eternity occupies a greener, more garden-fresh register — herbaceous and floral rather than tropical or oriental. The opening of Apricot, Blackcurrant, Melon, Peach, Bergamot and Chamomile is the most herbaceous and unusual top accord in the collection. Chamomile — appearing for the first and only time in the session — brings a warm, honey-apple, slightly medicinal herbal quality quite unlike any citrus or conventional fruit note: the note of dried flowers and herbal tea, calming and slightly earthy, its presence giving Eternity its distinctive green, garden character that separates it from the purely citrus-led openings of Escape or Cool Water Woman. The heart of Jasmine, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Coriander and Clove is a classically structured floral with a spiced herbal edge — Coriander making its first feminine fragrance appearance in the session, adding a warm, slightly citrusy, herbal spice that bridges the green top into the warmer base; Clove returning from Escape and 5th Avenue, but here paired with the cooler Coriander rather than the powdery warmth of Carnation. The base of Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Oak Moss, Amber and Vanilla introduces Oak Moss — one of the most important and now heavily restricted base materials in perfumery. A lichen-derived material with a dark, damp, forest-floor character, Oak Moss was the foundation of the classic chypre and fougère fragrance families; EU and IFRA allergen restrictions have significantly reduced its permitted concentration in contemporary reformulations, making its full expression in heritage formulations like this increasingly distinctive. Together with Cedarwood — which also anchors the base of Escape — it gives Eternity’s drydown a depth and complexity that places it firmly in the tradition of the great late-1980s green florals.

How to Apply

Apply to pulse points — wrists, neck, décolletage. For extended longevity, apply the Shower Gel first and spray the EDP over it. The chamomile and melon opening settles within fifteen minutes into the jasmine and rose heart; the oak moss and sandalwood base develops slowly and lasts six to eight hours on skin with a warm, woody, slightly green trail.
