Created by perfumer Yann Vasnier, Moschino Toy Boy is built around a heart combination that is genuinely unusual in men’s fragrance: Rose, Magnolia and Clove Buds together. Rose and Magnolia are almost exclusively used in women’s perfumery at this prominence; Clove Buds are more common in men’s oriental fragrances but rarely placed alongside florals this openly. The result is a heart that is simultaneously rich, spiced and floral — the clove gives the roses an intensity and warmth that stops them reading as feminine, and the magnolia adds a creamy softness that prevents the clove from becoming harsh or medicinal.
