The colour coding in the naming is compositionally accurate: Yellow Diamond’s Neroli and Pear opening is the warmest and most sun-like of the three, and its Nymphea and Orange Blossom heart the most transparent. The ‘Yellow’ designation also references the specific colour of a fancy yellow diamond — among the rarest and most valuable of coloured diamonds, their colour produced by trace nitrogen atoms in the crystal lattice — and the composition’s character reflects that visual reference: warm, luminous, faceted, simultaneously bright and precious. The Diamante Accord in the top is a synthetic construction used across luxury feminine perfumery to evoke the faceted, light-refracting quality of cut diamonds — not a single material but a blend of musks and synthetics designed to give a composition clean, crystalline luminosity without adding any specific floral or aromatic character. The most unusual element of the composition is the base: Palo Santo, which appears in the base of a mainstream feminine EDT with minimal precedent.

The opening of Neroli, Pear and Diamante Accord is the brightest in the Crystal franchise. Neroli — distilled from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium), returning from multiple appearances in the session including Because It’s You — here in its most luminous context: bright, clean, slightly honeyed, with the citrus-blossom freshness that gives the Yellow Diamond opening its immediately sunny character. Pear returning from Jimmy Choo EDP and the Daisy family, its soft, slightly buttery sweetness here lighter and more transparent than in the warmer oriental and gourmand contexts. The Diamante Accord gives the opening its crystalline clarity. The heart of Orange Blossom, Nymphea and Freesia is the most aquatically inflected heart in the franchise. Nymphea — water lily, Nymphaea genus, appearing for the first time in the session — is a delicate, slightly aquatic, faintly green and watery floral; its fragrance character shares the transparency and clean freshness of Lotus Flower from Bright Crystal, giving the Crystal franchise its consistent watery floral thread across the two compositions. Freesia returning from Gucci Rush and Dolce Blue Jasmine, its light, slightly citrusy effervescence here at its most transparent. The base of Palo Santo, Musk and Amber is the composition’s most distinctive and least expected element. Palo Santo — Bursera graveolens, a sacred resinous wood native to the coastal regions of South America (Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia), first appearance in the session — has a warm, slightly sweet, softly smoky woody character with faint citrus and mint undertones; it is used in Andean Indigenous healing and ceremonial traditions and shares spiritual significance with Oud and Sandalwood in other cultural contexts. Its presence in the base of a mainstream feminine EDT is genuinely unusual and gives Yellow Diamond’s drydown a warm, slightly mystical depth that the luminous opening would not suggest.

How to Wear

Apply to pulse points — wrists, neck, décolletage. Two to three sprays; Yellow Diamond has the lightest projection of the Crystal franchise. The Neroli and Pear opening is immediate and luminous; the Nymphea and Orange Blossom heart arrives within ten minutes. The Palo Santo and Musk base lasts five to seven hours on skin, warmer and slightly smokier than the composition’s opening register suggests.
